During 2002 and following a long consultation which began in 1997, the DfES has launched an electronic registration fund to encourage the use of electronic registration systems in tackling truancy and absenteeism in schools.
OLT Consulting are currently working with schools to implement these systems through the use of classroom based computing and effective networking. By designing an efficient system, a teacher can take a register of the class in every lesson which is automatically fed back into a database of pupils allowing the school to follow up absent students as soon as they are missing rather than waiting for the manual registers to be collated some time later.
There are a number of effective approaches to electronic registration including smart-card technology and databases and OLT are happy to discuss how your individual might be met by the available technologies. Please contact us for further details.
